How to Install eSIM on Android

Installing your Soovia eSIM on Android takes just 5 minutes. This guide works for Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and most modern Android devices. You can install using a QR code (fastest method) or by entering details manually.

📱 Before You Start:

  • Your Android device must be unlocked (not carrier-locked)
  • Compatible with most Android phones released after 2019
  • You need an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • Have your eSIM QR code or activation details ready

Method 1: Install eSIM Using QR Code (Recommended)

This is the fastest and easiest way to install your eSIM. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings and Go to Network Settings

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device
  2. Tap on Network & Internet (may be called Connections on Samsung)
  3. Tap on SIMs or Mobile Networks
  4. Select Add eSIM or Download SIM

  • Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM
  • Google Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM

Step 2: Scan Your eSIM QR Code

  1. Tap on Scan QR code or Use QR code
  2. Your camera will activate automatically
  3. Position the QR code within the frame
  4. The code will be detected automatically
  5. Tap Download or Add when prompted

💡 Pro Tip:

Can't scan the QR code? Make sure you're in a well-lit area and hold your phone steady. If scanning doesn't work, use Method 2 below to enter details manually.

Step 3: Wait for Download

  1. Your device will download the eSIM profile (this takes 30-60 seconds)
  2. You may see a progress bar or loading animation
  3. Wait for the confirmation message

Step 4: Activate and Name Your eSIM

  1. Once downloaded, tap Activate or Enable
  2. Give your eSIM a descriptive name like "Travel Data" or "Europe eSIM"
  3. This helps identify it if you have multiple SIM cards

Step 5: Configure Network Settings (Important!)

After installing your eSIM, you need to configure these settings for it to work properly:

✅ Enable Mobile Data for eSIM

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetSIMs
  2. Tap on your eSIM
  3. Toggle Mobile Data to ON
  4. If you have multiple SIMs, select your eSIM as the default for Mobile Data

✅ Enable Data Roaming

  1. While in your eSIM settings, find Roaming or Data Roaming
  2. Toggle Data Roaming to ON

⚠️ Important:

Data roaming MUST be enabled for your eSIM to work abroad. Don't worry - with Soovia plans, you won't be charged extra roaming fees. Your plan includes all data at a fixed price.

✅ Set Network Selection to Automatic

  1. In your eSIM settings, scroll down to Network Operators or Carrier
  2. Select Automatically select network or Choose automatically
  3. Your Android will connect to the best available network

With automatic network selection enabled, your Android device will intelligently switch between available networks in your destination country to ensure you always have the best connection.

✅ Verify 4G/5G is Enabled

  1. In your eSIM settings, look for Preferred network type or Network mode
  2. Select 5G/4G/3G (auto) or LTE/5G for fastest speeds
  3. This ensures you get maximum performance from your data plan

Step 6: Installation Complete!

Your eSIM is now installed and configured! It will automatically activate once you arrive at your destination. You'll see both your primary SIM and your eSIM listed in your SIM settings.

You're All Set!

When you land at your destination, wait 1-2 minutes for automatic connection. You should see signal bars and network name appear. Try opening a website to confirm you're connected!


Method 2: Install eSIM Manually (Without QR Code)

If you can't scan the QR code or prefer manual entry, follow these steps:

Step 1: Access Manual Entry

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetSIMs
  2. Tap Add eSIM
  3. Select Enter activation code or Enter details manually

Step 2: Enter Your eSIM Details

You'll need to enter the following information. Find these details in your Soovia account under My eSIMs → View Details:

  • Activation Code - Your full LPA string (starts with LPA:1$...)

Or enter separately:

  • SM-DP+ Address - The server address
  • Activation Code - Your unique eSIM activation code
  • Confirmation Code - If required (usually left blank)

⚠️ Important:

Enter the details exactly as shown in your account. Even a small typo will prevent activation. Copy and paste if possible to avoid errors.

Step 3: Complete Installation

After entering all details correctly:

  1. Tap Download or Continue
  2. Wait for the eSIM to download (30-60 seconds)
  3. Tap Activate when prompted
  4. Name your eSIM for easy identification

Step 4: Configure Network Settings (Important!)

Just like with QR code installation, you need to configure these settings for it to work properly:

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetSIMs
  2. Tap on your eSIM
  3. Toggle Mobile Data to ON
  4. Toggle Data Roaming to ON
  5. Set Network Selection to Automatic

Troubleshooting Common Issues

eSIM Won't Download

  • Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • Restart your Android device and try again

  • Ensure you haven't used this eSIM on another device
  • Check if your device supports eSIM (dial *#06# to see if EID appears)

No Network Connection

  • Verify Mobile Data is enabled for your eSIM
  • Verify Data Roaming is enabled for your eSIM
  • Toggle Airplane Mode on/off
  • Manually select a network: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → [Your eSIM] → Network Operators → Select manually
  • Wait 5 minutes for automatic connection
  • Restart your Android device

QR Code Won't Scan

  • Ensure good lighting conditions
